we did the session for Marc Riley last night... it was fun. we played 3 new songs & 1 old one by request... also recorded another one from Dreamlands for Gideon Coe. Haven't had a chance to listen back to it yet but it sounded good in my headphones when we played. Marc was a true gent and we hope the next 15 years will be a joyous a fruitful experience for all involved.
We're doing a session for Marc Riley on Monday... which is the 24th February 2014. Lindsay was up there the other week with Primitive Parts, which you can hear here.
You can hear it on 6music around 7:30pm or something. We're all looking forward to it very much.
Then we're playing that Challenging Behaviour benefit, which should be a lot of fun. I will be there all day, supporting both Rock Penguins and The Carbonators to play too... it starts at like 4 and you should get there for around 4.
We then have two other shows in March on the 20th & 21st, one with The Bomber Jackets which i'm assuming is at Powerlunches and the other with a bunch of other bands we play in at The Macbeth.. it'll be like some awful game of tag.
We're about halfway through recording another album, which is all terribly exciting. Thematically it's currently touching on a number of subjects but the overall thread at the moment is unconventional sadness. Like a clown.
Challenging Behaviour is a weekend of shows in London featuring a whole bunch of DIY punk, hardcore and indie bands. It has been set up to raise money to support autistic and/or learning disabled adults in Hackney play and perform music. The money raised will go towards supporting and setting up music workshops, buying equipment and promoting a series of shows with mixed ability line ups. The festival is primarily a reaction to a gapping hole in Hackney council's approach to supporting vulnerable people. I will be adding much more information, a poster, facebook event etc over the next few days, so please check this post, but here is the line up for now:
OMI PALONE Mixing beat happening melodies, bedhead guitar interplay and Flying nun shimmer, whilst simultaneously providing four equally valid answers to the question 'what would christian grey look like if he was real?'. http://omipalone.blogspot.co.uk/
GLOSS REJECTION Excellent new london band featuring members of Weird menace and satellites of love. Shades of the warmers, a minor forest, victory at sea and the breeders at their most delicate. http://glossrejection.bandcamp.com/
GATHERING DUST Members of Tortura, ten speed bike, self defense family and bloomer playing their first show.
ROCK PENGUINS Raw rock from Priory school
Sunday 2/3/14 T CHANCES 3PM £10
COKE BUST Long running Washighton DC straight edge outfit. High speed socially conscious hardcore with a savage edge. http://cokebust.com/
VIOLENT ARREST First time in london, and a rare live outing from one of the UK's best hardcore bands. Feature the lions share of UKHC legends Ripcord, but doing anything but trading on past glories. Aggressive and direct hardcore punk. http://violentarrest.bandcamp.com/
ARMS RACE Member of Abolition, Stab, XrepentanceX, Think twice and others. Put out the best Hardcore demo of 2013 in my opinion. Classic NYHC sounds with a rougher UK edge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5QspQI_wF4
FRAU Taut, frantic yet catchy punk, offering a snapshot of what the smiths would have sounded like if everything about them wasn't totally shit. Not favored by people with bad taste, but probably the best band in london right now. Sound like if you played the Nixe at double speed whilst listening to the wrecks. http://stab.bandcamp.com/album/stab-nation-rising-7
JOINT D More evidence that, despite a sickening lack of public interest, america is still capable of producing musical groups, Joint D sound like whole drive like jehu songs condensed down into sub 2 minute hardcore bangers. Featuring the guitarist of Logic Problem, and taking the sound of that band a couple of steps further. Joint D are playing a headlining show in london a week latter, but will almost definitely be worth catching twice. http://jointd.bandcamp.com/
WRENCH First show from new UK band bringing a heavier delivery to the pick your king blueprint. Members of Blind Authority and Arms Race. Well worth turning up early for. http://wrenchuk.bandcamp.com/
